Beautiful Victorian lunar / moonlight oil painting by English painter Edward Henry Holder (Scarborough 1847- Middlesex 1922), signed E.H. Holder 1889. The motif is a full moon assumed to be over Friars Crag, Derwentwater in the English Lake District National Park as Edward Holder has painted another painting with the same motif by daylight: Cattle watering, Friars Crag, Derwentwater. The paitning in this listing depicts the same landscape, but at night with the full moon shining over the lake. The moon illuminates the night sky and the water reflects the light making the landscape appear as dark contours in the night.

The painting measures approx. 29 centimeters x 44 centimeters without the frame.

With the frame the painting measures 40 x 55 centimeters.

Very good antique condition according to pictures. Frame with wear.

Our focus expands from the 19th to the 20th century and we aim to make our costumers travel in time through antique and vintage things that our predecessors produced, possessed, cared for and cherised . We focus on the reuse of fantastic decorative art, which are hand made with great craft, artistic inspiration and love.
